Bull
Lodge, Bull Lane, is East-South-East of York
centre, situated 40 yards off Lawrence Street,
the A1079 main York to Hull Road. The city walls
at Walmgate Bar and the inner Ring Road, (the
A1036), the Barbican Entertainment and Conference
Centre are just a quarter of a mile away.
The University of York campus and Business
Science Park is some half a mile and takes about
10 to 15 minutes to walk. It is an easy level
walk into the centre. For the fit and able it
takes about 15 minutes and about 20 to 25 minutes
to the Minster. Pavements have sloping, tactile
surfaces at crossing points enabling easier,
safer journeying for disabled, elderly and
wheelchair persons.
Arriving
by bus or rail
York
does not have a bus station. The main line rail
station is located just the other side of the
city centre. National and local buses stop close
to the main entrance to the railway station. The
local number 10 (Claret Line to Stamford Bridge)
links them from just round the corner of the rail
station in Leeman Road (outside the Royal Mail
depot), via the city centre to Lawrence Street.
Alternatively buses 45, 46 and 47 pick up just to
the left of the station exit. Ask for the St.
Joseph Convent stop, the second on Lawrence
Street outside the City Walls at Walmgate Bar.
Bull Lane, a narrow, tree-lined side street, is
off to the left about 100 metres further on and
Bull Lodge is about 40 metres down Bull Lane.
Operated by First Group the number 10 bus service
runs every thirty five minutes during the
daytime, Monday through Saturday, hourly on
Sunday. Transfer time is about 15 minutes. You
are advised to check the timetable at First Group
route 10 as
times are subject to change. Operated by East
Yorkshire the buses 45, 46 and 47 are,
individually not as frequent as the number 10,
but together may be a more convenient service.
You are advised to check the timetable at East
Yorkshire Bus Services
Alternatively
taxis wait outside the rail station, take about
10 minutes outside of rush hour times. You are
advised to confirm the taxi fare and destination
as Bull Lodge Guest House, Bull Lane, off
Lawrence Street. At peak times there can be
lengthy queues at the taxi rank. You may wish to
make a note, pre-order or phone one of the
following private hire cabs to pick you up
outside of the concourse:
