Location Details
Bull Lodge, Bull Lane, is East-South-East of York centre, situated 40 yards off Lawrence Street, the A1079 main York to Hull Road. The city walls at Walmgate Bar and the inner Ring Road, (the A1036), the Barbican Swimming Pool, Leisure and Conference Centre are just a quarter of a mile.
The University of York campus and Business Science Park is half a mile. It is an easy level walk into the centre. For the fit and able it takes about 15 minutes to the centre, about 20 minutes to the Minster. Pavements have sloping, tactile surfaces at crossing points enabling easier, safer journeying for disabled, elderly and wheelchair persons.

Arriving by bus or rail

York does not have a bus station as such, but the national bus stop and main line rail station are located just the other side of the city centre. Both national and local buses stop just outside the main entrance to the railway station. The local, number 10 (Claret Line) bus service (to Stamford Bridge) links them, via the city centre to Lawrence Street. Ask for the 'Sisters of Poor Claire Convent' stop. The stop is about 100 yards before Bull Lane on the same side of the road.
The bus service is every twenty miunutes during the day and early evening. There is no late evening service. A Sunday daytime service operates hourly.Transfer time is about 10 minutes. Alternatively taxis wait outside the rail station, take about 5 minutes outside of rush hour times and cost about three to four pounds. You are advised to confirm the taxi fare and destination as Bull Lodge Guest House, Bull Lane, off Lawrence Street. If you are fit and able you can walk from the station in about twenty-five minutes.
